About Brian Foster
Brian has been involved in the financial services industry for nearly three decades, first as a commercial and corporate banker, and for over two decades as a financial advisor. He began his investment career at The Chicago Corporation (since acquired) in 1993, specializing in investments in the community banking industry. Realizing a need to protect client assets and mitigate risk, much of his focus over the last two decades has been to develop a capability in the broad issues of wealth management.
From 2001 to 2010 Brian was a Senior Vice President at RBC Wealth Management. While with RBC, he attended and successfully completed RBC Wealth Management’s Accredited Wealth Manager (AWM) coursework; and also received a Chairman’s Council award.
From July of 2010 until December of 2015, Brian was a Senior Vice President at Oak Ridge Financial Services Group, Inc., of Golden Valley, Minnesota, working in part as a liaison with Oak Ridge’s Financial Institutions Group.
The establishment of Upland Financial Management represents the culmination of Brian’s long held vision of being free to serve a small group of clients, focusing on meaningful problem solving primarily in the area of retirement planning, continuing to leverage his knowledge of the community banking industry for the benefit of clients, without pressures from corporate interests.
Brian has a B.A. degree with a concentration in Economics from the University of Chicago.
